Cam is Yunus Chair and Distinguished Professor of Health Economics at Glasgow Caledonian University, where, from 2016-21, he served as Pro-Vice Chancellor Research. His research interests include: eliciting patients’ and public preferences for health care; development of priority setting frameworks for use on local health and social care settings; economic evaluation of innovations in clinical and public health practice; evidencing microfinance, social business and social enterprise as public health initiatives. His research has been recognised by the award of Senior Investigatorships from the National Institute for Health Research and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Cam has chaired the United Kingdom Family Planning Association’s Expert Panel on the Economics of Sexual Health in England and been a member of the National Institute for Care and Excellence (NICE) Appraisal Committee, the Dental Contract Evidence and Learning Reference Group of England’s Department of Health, the Scottish Government’s Roundtable of Social Enterprise and Health and, from 2018-21, the LSE-Lancet Commission on the Future of the National Health Service.
